If the Matrimandir is the soul and spiritual heart of Auroville, then CIRHU is envisioned as its pulsating circulatory system, to be energized by a plasma of the collective consciousness generated by the inner work of Aurovilians and individuals internationally. By circulating this force through a universal network of people, projects, and global collaborations, CIRHU’s aim is to transform abstract ideals into a living, breathing reality for human unity.
Today, Auroville struggles to show true impact of our collective experiment. Auroville's success cannot be measured just by population numbers, separate projects or material development. Instead progress becomes visible in how our "city of the future" reflects our collective consciousness. Because we lack a shared research framework focusing on human unity, our daily work and insights remain disconnected, both within Auroville and with the world.
CIRHU provides that missing link. It should connect every unit, service, farm, cultural activity and educational project by uniting our inner work and daily life towards active research in human unity. CIRHU’s role is to guide this transformative and innovative research and higher integral education so that the development of Auroville becomes a living example of harmony between people and a groundbreaking material manifestation of a galaxy city that is in alignment with the natural world, living as one with it rather than separate from it.
Through the active participation of all the Aurovillians and the global community, CIRHU's role is now to bring the evolution of consciousness and aspiration for human unity to the forefront in our living laboratory.

How can CIRHU serve Auroville?
Being under the Ministry of Education requires a new kind of pioneering. Aurovilians must develop / establish a strong pioneering work in the field of research and higher education in human unity. CIRHU will allow Aurovilians from all fields to lead Auroville’s further development and growth through research.
To bring together (CENTRE) all initiatives happening in Auroville by individuals across different sectors, and make work credible, visible and accessible.
International recognition and validation of Auroville's research through CIRHU can be a step towards the much needed official endorsement of Aurovilians to represent their home countries in this global research initiative for human unity. This would also justify governments internationally to support Auroville legally, financially and through official collaborations with research and higher education institutes/organisations.
Raising Auroville's credibility as an essential project for humanity will inspire and attract researchers and new Aurovilians from around the world to join this living experiment in human unity.
Wider international acknowledgement of Auroville's research can bring pride to India to be hosting a groundbreaking autonomous project under its Ministry of Education.
The CIRHU service unit also has the important role to ensure Auroville’s continued approval of Section 35(1)(iii) of the Income Tax Act, 1961. This provides the Auroville Foundation with a powerful mechanism for international and domestic fundraising by granting 100% tax exemption status for donors who want contribute specifically toward Social Science or Statistical Research of the Auroville experiment.
To build solid higher integral education to inspire youth to continue their learning in Auroville rather than leaving for studies in traditional universities. This will also bring young people from around the world to take part in higher integral education in Auroville.
As a new service unit CIRHU can involve more Aurovilians in managing the everyday operations of CIRHU for the community, bringing together people with knowledge, skills and experience in research and higher education to work together for Auroville’s wider aims.
Citizen Science Active Studies
Participating in Citizen Science studies is a simple way to bring Auroville's shared Dream back into focus. Instead of arguing in forums driven by ego and power struggles, these studies let you quietly and confidentially share your real, lived inner experiences, turning personal introspection into a foundation of truth. For international participants, your input lifts the conversation above local issues, reminding everyone that Auroville truly is a research experiment for all of humanity.
This collective voice provides the human-centered data needed to systematically guide Auroville’s development from the ground up, naturally bridging the gap between individual insight and collective progress. By gathering this data, the studies aim to reunite daily life with the Auroville Charter, empowering the entire community to build a practical research culture based on awareness, values, and clarity.
Your online input will also directly help shape CIRHU’s early functions to ensure it truly serves the needs of the people. Through Citizen Science, everyone is invited to become an active co-creator of knowledge, together manifesting Auroville’s profound vision of human unity as our guiding force.
